Dubois, WY

Dubois is a fun little one street town with about 10 saloons (that's what they call them in WY not bars) and lots of arts and crafts specialty shops.  Everyone has a cowboy hat and cowboy boots and they have the biggest belt buckles I've ever seen.  The people are very friendly and everyone knows everyone but they make you feel at home so we had a great time here.

                                                 Dubois, the one street town.

Most of the houses and even the churches are built with logs - very rustic and beautiful.

This is a park we went to down town (no relation - I don't think) but the walkway follows the Wind River and makes for a nice walk.

We met (Al and his wife Kathy) a friend of Will's that he worked with when he had jobs in Dubois and around the area and they invited us up to their beautiful log cabin - I think it was on the highest mountain in WY and it had the smallest roads I've ever seen to get up there - but what a site when we got there.  I also saw my first Picketpen's - had never even heard of them - but they are really funny little animals. Kathy had about 50 of them down in her large beautiful flower/bird/picketpen area.  But I think I'll take my squirrels and chipmunks.

We went to lunch at a place (saloon) called Cripple Creek and besides being just beautifully constructed it had really great food and I think they also had to reorder Coors Light after we left. lol

Then it was Rodeo time - talk about cowboys - woo hoo - and I guess they had a few cowgirls too.

This little girl did barrel racing and was really good - came in second.

                                                   They even had the clowns.

As you can see he didn't stay on long!

And then this guy was going sideways! lol

And this little guy was on a little bull and he didn't stay on long either.

And then there's the Big Horn Sheep the little kids ride - all they hold onto is the horns -as you can see I've already lost the rider - he wasn't on long  - but look at those horns!

This is back at the rv park - the Canadian geese were having a hard time getting around with the water going so swiftly. If was fun watching them try to swim up river - but they all made it.  (P.S. Mike, Will took these geese pictures for you)

I think he was the leader - looks like he was even posing!  lol

later  xoxo
